Living as an adult is one of those weird experiences. When I was younger I always thought that everyone becomes ‘mature’ at some point, and let me tell you, that doesn’t happen. Maturity is a lie created to keep children in check, so in true ‘adult’ fashion, I’m just going to complain about people and the things they do that pisses me off.
Attention seeking behaviours
I don’t know if this is because I have many younger siblings, but when people my age or older than me try to seek attention in cringey ways I just want to whack some sense into them. I’m obviously focusing on when people act like children, get clingy and when they center everything around themselves. It’s just something that irks me, deep within my soul.
Touchy feely people
Now don’t get me wrong, if I’m close to someone hugging and all that doesn’t bother me. But when someone is literally invading every ounce of your space, or randomly touching you, it hurts me. Yes, I’m not even overexagerating, I usually scream, squeal or shiver (sometimes all three).
I don’t know why this feels like such a personal attack, but it does. Some people are generally just touchy feely, and sometimes its ok, but if I’m feeling uncomfortable I usually ask someone to stop doing it, and if they continue, just cut them out – life is too short to deal with that shit!
People who put you down to make themselves look good
Banter is all fun and good, but when someone puts you down all the time, and uses those insults to make themselves look good, is honestly one of the biggest pet peeves that I have. Not only does this indicate that the person does not care for you, but 99% of the time they’re also dickheads.
People who can’t handle silence
Last but not least, this one is for all my fellow introverts. Have you ever had peaceful silences around people? It’s sometimes so nice, because you can just spend time without the need of talking. However, there are people who get really uncomfortable with silences and feel the need to just keep yapping, and it just irks me. Like, some of us need to recharge in the middle of the day – so please stop.
Not all silences are awkward, a lot of them are really nice and soothing!
