Hello friends and welcome to another post about feminism, but in todays post we are going to focus on the other side to it – the arguments against it. Now I’m not going to spend a lot of time talking about what feminism actually is, and how it’s about everyones rights purely because I’ve written a lot about it and repeating myself at this point would just be tiring.
We love a good argument against feminism, and by love I mean hate. Thankfully in 2019 feminism isn’t a dirty word anymore but some people still have the strangest arguments against the movement and honestly I just want to spend this time debunking them because they’re stupid.
It’s 2019 we don’t need it anymore!
Au contraire, if anything time hasn’t meant anything. Yes some women in some countries can vote, and we are slowly getting to higher places, but there’s still a lot systematic inequality and that’s just in the western world. We have to take into account that women everywhere are hurting, and men, because of patriarchal systems put in place. So yes, despite it being 2019, we still need it.
Also let’s remember that America are slowly banning abortion state by state and how everyones equating their treatment of women to The Handmaids Tale becoming reality.
I don’t experience it therefore it’s not an issue
It was also cold in winter instead of hot, does that mean global warming isn’t a real issue? Honestly this argument is very selfish, because it’s taking someones personal experience as gospel for the whole world, when in reality everyone experiences things differently. Just because an issue doesn’t effect you, it doesn’t mean that it’s not an important issue to fight against.
What about mens rights?
Mens rights are also included in feminism, patriarchy effects everyone not just women.
Honestly, I don’t agree with those men haters
Believe it or not, and this might shock you, but feminism is not about hating men. I know, take a moment whilst your mind is blown and really just do a bit more research into the movement. 🙂
We’re all biologically created differently, so we need to allocate our roles accordingly
Believe it or not, but in this day and age that kind of thinking is really warped. Feminism is all about equal rights and opportunities for everyone, just because we’re structured differently biologically, doesn’t mean we can’t have the same opportunities. But also this argument is very transphobic and honestly I can’t even deal with people like this.
