Shameless Podcast Promotion – Neighbourhood Trash Gang (184/365)

In case you haven’t heard, or don’t follow me on social media (@fatimaspeaks on Instagram and Twitter), I started a podcast with my best friends. It’s called the Neighbourhood Trash Gang and you can tune in to new episodes every Tuesday at 6.30 PM. You can find us on Youtube, Spotify, Itunes and Soundcloud. πŸ™‚

Why is your name ‘Neighbourhood Trash Gang’?

Why not? But in all seriousness coming up with a name took a while because we wanted something flexible with our personalities. Both Saima and myself are very trashy and obsessive people so we wanted a name that really reflected that. It was a lovely group effort and when we finally came to the decision it felt right, plus the name also gives us the freedom to talk about many different things. Since as much as we do love things like anime, we don’t want to have a whole podcast dedicated to it – being limited with topics would not help at the beginning stages.

What do you talk about?

Anything and everything – a lot of sex and gross things have come up in the most recent episodes. I blame our discussions on the dark side of the internet as it’s a very interesting place and because of our ages, we have seen many things. In all honesty we’re open to a lot of different topics and even have one on mental health coming up as it was suggested by one of our amazing Instagram followers.

We do take suggestions since at the end of the day podcasts are about what people want to actually hear, and not just what we want to talk about.

Why did you start the podcast?

Because I did a video with Saima on her Youtube channel and she suggested it there and then and I agreed. Thousands of people have seen that video now, so we can’t just back out – plus it’s fun!

Honestly the process of actually starting the podcast itself was very interesting, we initially thought it would be easy. You just get a mic, record it and whack it somewhere, but it’s a lot more complicated than that and honestly I’d suggest doing a lot of research before buying anything. THE EQUIPMENT IS EXPENSIVE.

Also the way podcasts get uploaded require a submission to Spotify and Itunes beforehand so they can approve your account, and then you use a lovely thing called an RSS feed to get it uploaded everywhere. So do your research, have fun, and have a team. You can’t do everything on your own and that’s ok!

Also have fun with it, you don’t have to script every single second, just have a general idea and a good amount of chemistry with whoever you’re podcasting with and everything will turn out fine πŸ™‚
