The Downside Of Running A Daily Blog (246/365)

I’ve been running a daily blog for over 240 days now and honestly it’s been an interesting experience. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I didn’t think I’d make it past 3 months – that was my initial goal, and now I must continue just because we’re in the final stretch of this little experiment. Now I never really like to complain about this blog mainly because I chose to do this and don’t really have a right to complain about something I’m doing for fun, but with the positives come the negatives.

I’ve also reached the point where I’m running out of ideas, so a lot of complaining and ranting might happen until I get a good flow of ideas (please help).

So back to the cons of running a daily blog, well the first one would be the fact that at some point you will run out of ideas. No matter how much you schedule in future posts, you’ll reach that point where you’re fucked and have no idea what to write about.

The next one is the pressure to write really long posts that have a lot of meaning. I hate to be the one who says this – but with a daily blog it’s really hard to always write top quality content, especially when you’re the only writer. As much as I’d love to be someone who’s constantly on top of my writing, I have to face the reality that I’m running this blog alongside my daily life, and that includes my personal and professional life.

There is also the pressure as many people I personally know are aware that I’m running this blog and honestly I have a certain level of pride – so if I fail and they see it, it will hurt my soul. So I’m basically adding this extra pressure to myself.

Lastly a major downside is just the fact that life happens, sometimes I’ll write a post and I’ve experienced something or have personal negatives and I sort of have to pretend they’re not happening and continue on with this blog. I know it’s not obligatory, but remember that pride I just mentioned, it’s a killer when it comes to feeling the need to do things. 🙂

There are positives as well, but I’ve already mentioned those at length in previous posts so check them out!
